Rhian Stanton
Counsellor
Overwhelmed? Stuck? Feeling like life has become difficult to navigate on your own?
You don't have to face things alone. Reaching out for counselling is a courageous step, and finding someone you feel comfortable with is an important part of the process.
I'm Rhian Stanton, an Accredited Member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (MBACP), an EMDR Therapist and Clinical Supervisor, based in Mold, Flintshire. I have over 10 years' experience working as a counsellor within charitable organisations, supporting adults through a wide range of emotional and life challenges.
People often tell me they feel at ease talking with me. I offer a calm, warm and accepting space where you can feel safe to explore whatever is troubling you. Together, we can make sense of what you're experiencing, discover your strengths, and find a way forward that feels right for you.
I have experience supporting people with anxiety, stress, trauma, abuse, low self-esteem, shame, anger, depression, grief and loss, relationship difficulties and major life transitions.
Every person's story is unique, so our work together will be shaped around your individual needs. My foundation is person-centred counselling, and I integrate Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) , inner child work and Solution Focused Therapy (SFT) approaches where these may be helpful. I also offer creative ways of exploring experiences, including art and colour, sandtray, metaphor, imagery, poetry and storytelling, particularly when words alone do not fully express what you are feeling.
I also offer EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing) for single-incident trauma. EMDR is an evidence-based therapy that can help the brain process distressing experiences that feel "stuck", such as accidents, assaults, medical procedures or sudden losses.
Before becoming a counsellor, I worked in education in pastoral roles, supporting young people and families. Combined with my counselling experience, this has given me a deep understanding of relationships, resilience and the importance of feeling valued, heard and understood.
The most rewarding part of my work is seeing people reconnect with themselves, make sense of difficult experiences and discover that change is possible. Watching clients grow in confidence, self-awareness and self-compassion is a privilege that continues to inspire me every day.
Outside of work, I enjoy spending time outdoors, whether walking in the countryside or exploring towns and cities. Music, creativity and art are also important parts of my own wellbeing.
